Hi Legends, changed my son’s piston and piston ring. All seemed to go as it should, however it won’t kick over now. Cleaned the carby, fresh battery, new spark plug, engine has compression.
How much compression should it have on the test? Anything I may have missed? Appreciate any help. Cheers Liam
Needs spark, fuel, and air to run. Did you verify it is getting spark?
I did try 2 different plugs. Brand new and the old one that was working fine. Air filter is fine, fuel is fine.
Why did you try new plug? After trying for a while to start it, was is wet? ie. 100% getting fuel in there?
Test for spark by taking the plug out of the engine and crank it over while still connected to the coil. Make sure it’s resting against the head so it grounds out against the body of the plug and then watch for spark on the plug.

Was starting fine before I changed the piston, ring and gaskets tho.
Starter problem maybe. Try tap tap with any key on the starter. If on then u have a bad starter
