I’m new to this forum, I moved to VA a few years back, moved from a Karting rich environment in Montreal. Anyhow, a few years ago, I decided I had enough land and asphalt to design my own track, considering I live on a farm, it wasn’t too hard to drone my land and carve out a track.
The first issue I faced on my journey was working with my landscape to build something that didn’t destroy my property value. To be honest, that was my biggest concern. I have cattle, and I also wanted to keep the functionality of the farm. Building a track isn’t as hard as determining how to have it fit in with your house layout.
Above you can see the yellow area I had to work with, the driveway was already asphalt, but the turn around area at the left side of the track we had to clear and asphalt. The asphalt around the house was the biggest challenge. Here are some pictures of the build process, I dug most of the area and laid it out on my drone views. It was an exciting time and also a hell of a anxious one.
Oh boy looking back at this it was a crazy time.

Obviously this is a work in progress, we realized that the track needed wider corners, so I went about building them in:
All in all, these expansions really helped with cornering and kart setup.
We currently run 4cyl karts, we use different track layouts and use GPS location for timing, it’s quite accurate down to the .1 second
I mostly run 2 pragas with predator ghost engines, one Tilston with the Tilston engine and the terrible carb that comes with it and one Birell with a Ghost engine also, we run 35/53 and 35/58 sprockets. It’s quite fun, the straight is where most passes happen due to width, but in the layout we use the Verstappen corner is another place were passes happen. Next step will probably be widening areas of the asphalt.
It’s nothing special, but wanted to share. We also head down to VIR from time to time if anyone wants to meet up.
