So I am getting a Sodi Sport 390cc kart and I will be experimenting on this machine quite a bit. One of the goal would be getting a GX200 clone and build it to 12-14hp.
Do I need to know anything about Lifan clones ?

Flywheel (designed for the RPM you’ll turn), valve springs (To support valve control at higher RPM), airbox delete (replace with a straight filter without the stock elbow) and rejet will get you pretty close. Thinner head gasket can add another boost on top of that
Billet rod is also a good idea…
You might have to drill holes on the engine plate for the small block, the pattern is a little different.
All that said, how about a tilly? No disassembly required. Bolt on and go.
The idea would be to evaluate a replacement of the genuine honda for rental. My theory would be that build clones would have less power difference due to using bespoke internals
Didn’t you show me some after market kits that you can buy that replace the various bits and make more power?
That’s plausible but would take some work. Not TJ belabor the point but the Tillotson checks the boxes for performance and parity.
My issue with Tillotson is the 30h run time between services. It is clearly not acceptable for a low performance 4 stroke.
SA250 is 80 hours, and we are talking about a 250cc, high revving, 35 to 45hp engine.
