Honda gx transmission ratio?

Hi KP people. So im trying to replicate something like the gx uk championship here in Indonesia. Rental engine with pro chasis.

Since the engine is a multi-purpose engine. I have a friend here in indonesia but the brand is not honda. Called Loncin. I have a direct support from him but…. We are kinda struggle since they dont have the gearbox ratio.

My questions is….

  1. Im still in R&D level where im gonna test the 270cc and the 390cc for my local track.
  2. My friend doesnt have the transmission and me personally have 0 clue about it.
  3. The race it will be arrive n drive where ppl rent to race, me as an organizer prep all the karts.
  4. Since bigger cc means bigger engine. By looling at the track is around 1.2km clock wise. I dont want to be underpowered but i gotta make sure weight ratio as well.
  5. Where can i get em? China? Or where?

I can’t help with mechanical but I can massage those images… brb.

that’s an industrial oil bath 2:1 gear reduction box i believe. There should be something locally that is similair as its used in equipment like concrete mixers, power washers, etc.

Yeah it’s a 2:1 box with an oil bath multi plate centrifugal clutch. Used a lot in rentals. Key (unintended pun) is to check your crank dimensions because there are some variants.

Most of the clutches you come across with be the 3/4 crank. But with your 270 and 390 (Both should be the “big block” design) you might have a 1” crank (Q) or a 24mm metric which looks the same as a 1” if you eyeball it. The 270 might even have a 3/4. Also confirm the seal size because that dimension on the crank can vary too.

So you will likely be able to source from China, but half the time the suppliers do not know what they have or are selling. Make sure you get the dimensions of your crank 100% confirmed and that the clutch matches.

If it’s for a fleet, I’d go direct to the source with Noram in the US. It’s going to cost more but you will get exactly what the application needs. Our setup for the 460’s cost us about $400 each including a plate setup that could handle the additional power of the 460. It hurt at the time but they have been sturdy.

Almost forgot, the output shafts also have different options including key size. So make sure you match that size to your drive sprocket dimension also.

When I’m doing gear calcs for these I just enter half the engine RPM.

Also, Fastline Group might be a good resource depending on how trade relations are. https://www.fastlinegroup.com/

Yes correct thisntype of engine is used in industrial stuffs.

Yes James china is best bet but also risky bcs if something goes south itll takes time to ship and get it right. I checked with your website link they dont have the gearbox complete set..

What about weight ratio. I tried tested the engine on the side. Logically if i somehow the 270 is not fast enough imma have to put 390cc engine. But by doing so, it’ll be heavy af.

Would 160cc side by side solve the problem? I put 1 160cc on each side? Is that doable?

Reach out to fastline they might they able to help.

Avoid going dual unless your chassis are already made for it.

Yeah a 390 on a racing chassis is going to be huge and the wet clutch will add even more weight and girth.

If you run 270, ditch the factory airbox and elbow and go with a filter, jet up a couple of sizes.

Do you have other chassis options? 2:1 gearbox adds a couple of inches to an already fairly wide package.
