How is your trailer setup for Karting?

Rad, I love my Outback! I am a skier and that thing is a tank through crazy snow storms up to the mountain. You can actually see my snow tires are still on in this picture haha. Super practical vehicle for all of my hobbies! Right now I have a rooftop tent on it in “summer mode”.

My old setup, the Outback is no longer on kart duty:

I like your clutch board.

Anyone pack karts three tall in a smaller trailer? I don’t have the space, or towing capacity, for a big trailer.

I was thinking of something like a 6x10 or 6x12. Two karts on a stacker. I was thinking a third could be lifted to the ceiling using a winch, then held in place by being strapped to fold-up side shelving.

Barring that, does a 6x10 fit (perhaps with the stacker sideways) or do I have to go bigger?

6x12 v nose is where you want to be. You can then easily get 4 with 2 stacker stands. We actually haul 6 regularly. 4 on 2 stackers and 2 vertical on wall. Anything shorter and they won’t fit nose to tail.

Not quite what you’re asking, and these are out of production, but we were able to fit three karts in a 10’ space using kart kaddy style stands. They held the karts at an angle and allowed them to sit close in the trailer, and just took a slight tilt to get them in the door.

@fatboy1dh Good to know it’ll definitely work with a 6x12. With a 6x10, do you think taking front bumpers off would give enough clearance to fit as well?

@zipty842 I presume by angle you mean vertical angle, so half propped up? I suppose I could do that with a regular stand with the nose held a few inches above ground. That plus a stacker might be good enough? Hope the 4strokes don’t mind being held at 45 degrees nose down?

How slight a tilt?

I have a 5x8 trailer and have to remove the side pods, bumper amber change the rear wheels to fronts to get the kart to go through the rear door opening.

I’ve been wondering if turns the kart would be a better option.

It’s been a few years since I had them but if I had to guess, 15-20° from vertical?

I only had a shifter on them so not sure how the 4 stroke would handle that.

I DO! I actually have 4 in this 6’ x 12 trailer. Luckily 1 is a kid kart. Surprisingly I can also get a couple scooters in the back too!

There 2 in the front on a double stack–full size on top, cadet on the bottom. I put a cadet kart on the kid kart stand so it is lower, then I put the kid kart on the 2x4’s. I am going to fit a winch or pulley in the back so we can lift the kart easier. It isn’t bad muscling it up there…but it is a PIA!

It can be done!

I snapped a couple of pics of this setup which looks rather neat. Can be wheeled and/or strapped. Height between racks is a little small perhaps as it was intended for laydown karts.

Yeah I just picked up a forth kart. So I got another double stacker and now I’m trying to determine if I can fit 2 cadets/ 2 adult karts in my 7x14 trailer . . .

I will say hindsight 20/20, if I had to do it all over again. I would have gone with a aluminum trailer with A/C in the Florida heat.

This is with 3 karts and gear. Its pretty tight!

If you can fit 3, then you can certainly fit 4, it takes up the same space once stacked? I am considering ways to fit 3 into a 6x12, so 7x14 should easily work I hope ;-).

I have a 7x14 and have fit up to 4 karts in there easily when stacked. And 3 when not stacked.

Good to know, as in that picture I posted that’s 2 cadet karts (doubled stacked) and my X-30. I just got another double stacker for the two adult karts so in the end I’ll need to fit 2 adult karts and 2 cadet karts doubled stacked in my 7x14 trailer.

What kind of stuff are putting on the cargo carrier? I am wondering if the cargo carrier is wide enough for an electric kart stand.

who makes an aluminum trailer close to us in florida?

It is not strong enough to support an electric kart stand.

I put tools in a tote, fuel, and my light kart stand on the carrier. The stand is a pain though.

Here’s one. I gravitate toward the dual axle cause if I pop a tire I can limp it somewhere.

I’m with you, dual axle all the way. I’ve seen some relatively large single axle campers, and always thought that was asking for trouble.
