How about Hydrogen or Propane Fuel for Karts ?? Thoughts ?? Very interesting Video on Toyota and a new engine… May change everything related to gas engines… Maybe kart engines someday… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WNz1Hru_9I
I think I’ve seen karts with what looked like propane tanks on them.
I’m gonna need to see a psychological eval of my competition before I get in a kart with a tank of pressurized propane or hydrogen…
Propane already exists. Hydrogen won’t work due to the lack of space for a big enough tank. It would require a very high pressure tank which would be a security hazard
Where is cold fusion when you need it?
Hydrogen will never be a viable fuel until new hydrogen tech exists. It is cost prohibitive to produce with the majority coming from Steam Methane Reformers fed from natural gas or refinery syn gas. H2 is approximately 6 times the cost per mmBTU of gasoline. That number can vary pretty wildly due to localized pricing and transport cost.
Propane is more expensive to run than gasoline as well. It is almost 100% derived from natural gas separation. As such, it is approximately 35% more expensive per mmBTU than gasoline.
Now, if your motor is running on race fuel, that’s a whole different can of worms!
Propane is not uncommon with rentals (and ice resurfacers ). Less emissions, less smelly and longer run times between refueling.
Don’t pushit … i will bring the major captain on the discussion… let it go …
Let it go .
