The original brakes are missing and the kart is quite old. Would modern brakes fit or would i need to make an adapter of some sort?
I think you will have a hard time finding something that will bolt on with the bracket in your picture with no modification. I am a little concerned with the crack I see at the front of the bracket too. I retrofitted an older CRG with a brake system made by MCP and used a solid chunk of aluminum as a bracket, drilled for the caliper and bolted to the bearing carrier (the bracket you have the tape measure on). I would say you could use the rotor once cleaned up.

You will want a Righetti Ridolfi mechanical caliper and an adaptor bracket. I have one I can sell you for $125 shipped. Get the cable made up by an A&P mechanic at your local small airport.
i found ven-96 on ebey. Thoughts?
