There was a time, when I was young and clueless, that I would have tried to figure out how to live in my trackside garage. But I was an idiot.
How much was the monthly fee for a Garage Bay before the change? And is it possible to actually work on the kart inside the new Single Kart storage option?
A single garage is big enough for 4 karts on regular or one man stands. I donāt recall the measurement.
Pre increase was 175.
Iām not sure on the single kart storage details. Iām assume it is what is stated. Just storage.
I believe its $60 a day at trackhouse for track rental. If you think kart people are tight you should see the off road moto world. Its unbelievableā¦guys lose their minds over a $250 to $300 annual jump. Theyāre normally driving a jacked monster truck getting 9 mpg and speeding $60 round trip in fuel.
I donāt think itās so much the price increase as it is the new company coming in and doing nothing but increasing prices and decreasing accessibility. Like I said, I agree with the frustrations, just donāt agree with airing them out on a discord like a mid-2000s jaded HS mean girl on My Space.
Hope they bring these eventually to Whiteland. OTL K1 Circuit 80 mph Electric Race Karts. Kind of see this as a plan I hope. They have been wanting to find more tracks to run these. And maybe K1 Speed Nationals East ?? My grandson ( K1 Racer - Youtube Channel ) is Racing at K1 Speed Canton Ohio in there teen GP League to get a chance to go run one of these at the Nationals in California maybe he doesnāt have to go that far and go to Whiteland ??
I would agree that having āoutsidersā come in and change things is likely a contributor to the complaints.
In my world of club racing (Badger Kart Club) there is no owner, so any price increase usually comes with an explanation of where that money will be used to improve the facilities or what price increase they are covering. No fee increase is ever for pure profit.
That fee structure is probably inline with what most clubs charge, but it was a bit of sticker shock for me as I was looking to come up for a day or 2 of practice and race in preparation for the Route 66 event there. Iāve never been to WRP, so itās possible the facility and track are worth the fees charged.
At our club a non-member can practice all day Wednesday and Thursday for $30. A member is $15. The track is open 10-6, and we have no rental karts to split time with.
On Friday and Saturday, he fee goes to $60 non-member/$30 Member.
We do not require a membership, and do not charge for parking.
AHHHH !!! Was there already Electric Race Karts at Whiteland ā¦ THE FUTURE ?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZnYJEpO8iE&t=36s
That was a visiting series that came in for one of the club races.
Sheesh - space for 4 karts for $250 is a bargain. And they have single kart storage also? Sounds like they have both bases covered.
How many of the 4 kart garages do they have?
Your club does such good for their members (and non-members) John - itās no wonder how big and active the club is. And how much talent comes out of there.
That saidā¦ it is truly an anomaly at this point. Not many club, not for profit, programs left that control their own facility. Definitely the envy of most of the karting community!!
Thereās probably 50+ total garage doors that arenāt the big team shops? Some are double bays and thereās one 5-6 bay.
What if that same garage was $75 cheaper per month and came with free practice? Itās not the final destination, itās the 50% increase and removal of benefits. Now paying more and getting less.
Wild! Thats me!
We ran 3 full events at Whiteland, Jacksonville and Daytona Kart Week. We should see a full season of events, as well as some private teams offering arrive and drive seats and other exhibition events.
Watching the Discord explode from the sideline, I agree that itās probably mostly anti-corporate sentiment. I think it really kicked off when a K1 Director talked about watching the Tulsa Shootout while the concerns were still somewhat civil
