K1 @ Winchester - A Rebel Scum Reconnaisance

We were in silver mode, currently level 2 of 3. I suppose I could have gotten Gold since we “unlocked” it with sessions. However, it wasn’t worth it to me to spend another 250 clams x2 to get annual license as we were there just for the day and were plenty challenged by silver.

The owner karts run the big track, I believe. I am not sure what the times are for ka100, x30, lo206 etc.

Here’s a quick and dirty cloud link to some footage from my last heat so you can get a sense of the Silver mode speed…

Yes but it’s ok and fun. There may well be a better hard compound for these but these aren’t so bad, really. Quite fun. But yeah, it’s not grippy for sure.

One last heat before I head back to this nonsense…

My whole family doesn’t want to leave. California really sucks you in.

And of course…

A thought RE: K1 Circuit rental OTL

If ever there was a rental kart to run two compounds on, this is it. They should take a page from the Keith Raffa playbook and throw some softer tires on the fronts and leave the rears rock hard.

Just slightly less hard fronts to get better turn-in and then manage the back. Would be epic.

Doesn’t need to be MG reds, just less hard hards.

The whole shebang

This took forever to process, about 6 hours.

Well, This was nice

I was surprised to discover that someone actually watched my mega-stint video and, had nice things to say. I am not particularly fast yet, but, it’s nice to know that I look like I know what I’m doing. Thank you, kind sir!

Faster than I was expecting! Definitely needs a touch softer compound. That hard tire squeal hurts my soul.

For sure. It would be waaay better with slightly less screamy tire.

A YouTuber did a vid and he was able to record his top speeds…

Silver 56
Gold 67

Plat not open yet.

So it’s like I said,
Bronze: GX390/270 (ish)
Silver: Ka100 (ish)
Gold: x30 (ish)

Gearing unknown. He was on shorter north track I think so no long straight to get it up to limit, I assume.
