Just installed this and having issues with my Fanatec CSW2.5 wheel and pedals. No preset so I am binding manually, takes a few times before it works, anyone experience this?
Also, any tips, is it normal to have to mess with gearing much when racing the AI? Seems like I’m getting dusted right off the start.
You do have to create a profile each time the game data gets wiped. Like you said, Generic Wheel Profile and bind the keys. In my case, it recognizes the pedals and the base no problem. Sometimes the pedals dont take and need a couple tries.
You say the acceleration is off. No, the AI shouldnt walk away from you like a rental race against light kids. I am guessing the pedals arent fullty registering the travel or something.
It was a blast. Actually got to run a club race last weekend as well, in addition to a coaching day with one of my teammates. Lots of seat time lately!
I reset the max and min on my pedals. Noticed there was some fluttering which apparently happens with Fanatec pedals, so I reset my min having some light pressure on the brake pedal and it’s all fixed.
The ai will eventually be fixed. They see you but not your width. The multiplayer is really the key for this to take off. The mp sessions, when you find folks, are fun. Glad to hear it’s working.
Decided to mix things up and give the KZ another go. It’s handling is much improved and the kart feels much more controllable. It is still a handful, but not in unexpected ways. In order to re-familiarize myself with the kart, I set the goal of breaking 38 at GVKC. The final turn proved to be a challenge. Enjoy.
I think they did some tweaks. The oscillations at speed are gone. I was experiencing some odd inability to get the wheel to turn when I asked it to but turns out that was me understeering and being a noob.
Tire model is being tweaked again in next patch too.
@tjkoyen lovely job on Tanguys helmet! How do you post those so it doesn’t show “log in to Instagram”?
I did notice in discord that there were some grip changes for kerbs at the very least. I haven’t had a chance to get back to turning laps in a few weeks though.
I really do think shifter is pretty neat.
It makes x30 seem so tame and reasonable.

I am trying to see if I can get close the the amazing (and oddly named) Penishole. He’s a guy I met at OKC who works there and used to race shifter IRL competetively. He’s way better than me in shifter but maybe I can get close. Top 5 would be nice. #1 time is likely some sort of cut or glitch.
I need to beat the rush out of me. Pushing into corners is something I must stop doing. It is so darn hard to be patient with throttle in KZ, but so necessary. You actually have to pay attention to the underlying grip as you accelerate out. You can’t just mash the pedal down and go, at least not if you want to go very fast.
It is, however, really rewarding to let one of these things rip. It is nothing like a non-gearbox kart. So much available power, such acceleration. It’s a different thing entirely.
I need to get a Fanatech setup, but current disposable time/income is being spent on remodeling my trailer & building a new KZ, so something’s got to give. Maybe in a year.
I do like my Fanatec gear over my old Thrustmaster. The clubsport setup was upgraded along with the CSV 2.5. The base unit is very good as well. I think all you get out of the 2.5 is more torque.
