Got dumped T1 in the LCQ, got back to 17th so I think I would’ve been decent had I kept it clean, but that’s Grands.
No pushbacks meant someone was getting moved on the start, just so happened to be me and the kid ahead of me. I’ll go through my GoPro later this week, I think I got all the races but the 3rd heat when my camera had an issue.
Yeah frustrating weekend for me too, just really struggled to find any speed with the kart. Gave it my best but had some incidents in the heats which was unfortunate and then got squeezed off in the lcq and had no control on the wet grass.
Well, I was up and down a little bit, my setup changes did not work the way I wanted them to. Running 28 with two to go I decided I didn’t want to wait in the scale line for a mid-pack finish and it was also beer:30, so I needed to get to the cooler stat…
You can spend as much as you like, but 400-500 a day for a full arrive and drive with a smaller team may be feasible. Add entry, tires, fuel and you’re looking at like $3k+ for a four day national show?
Our friends at New Gen here in Whiteland are probably the cheapest around. Good dudes with good equipment and everything in house.
Oh, do SuperNats. Respect to CKNA Grands, but in the end, SuperNats is still king of one-off events here.
CKNA Grands is more like an enormous club/regional race and SuperNats has a more international level to it. Though some of that appeal is gone with the event moving to Las Vegas Speedway.
Last time I did the math, it was about $6,500 to get the kart on the ground minimum. That was no mechanic, I think 1 set of practice tires, and on my own equipment. That’s before any wrecks/broken parts, protest fees, etc.
I did factor in a tent fee and maybe transport with that number, since going privateer at that event is practically guaranteeing you won’t make Sunday if there’s an LCQ unless you’re a solo top-level program already.
