“Hello KartPulse community, I’m Donald J. Cucci, a retired racer introducing TrackAI Coach—a smartphone app featuring a fusion of Grok AI with sensors for real-time coaching and post-race analysis. Targeting beginner to semi-pro karters, it mounts to your kart, maps tracks via GPS, and offers OBD integration”
Oh man, if this doesn’t smell fishy I’ve lost my nose. So many concerns with this.
First off, looking up Donald J. Cucci gives me a powerboat racer who goes by Joey, a dead website for his powerboat business, and a couple photos from 2009. What that has to do with car, kart, rc car, or motorcycle racing, soapbox, pinewood, or demolition derby, horse jockeying, or whatever form of "gotta go fast"ing is, I have no idea.
Grok AI is a language learning model. It does not and will not understand the complexities of driving, and would probably just feed off responses on this site to provide “answers” that are about as accurate as throwing a dart on a board with 16 different phrases from TJ.
Even if it was able to do, well, anything useful, I don’t believe a smartphone has enough precision in the GPS to actually be able to do any meaningful coaching with it. Drivers would have to theoretically buy another GPS unit thats compatible with the system, or figure out a way to connect some external device to the datalogger to pull that data. We don’t have OBD ports, so good luck figuring that out.
You would be better off, quite literally, taking your money and using it to buy a new custom suit, painted helmet, fancy branded tent, kart stand, toolbox, or anything else that does absolutely nothing to improve your laptime.
Hopefully the AI that’s planned for the system is better than what’s been used for the post.
I’ll leave the topic open for entertainment purposes for now and on the off chance that something actually materializes. Something other than a broken canvas link.
Mychron supports CANBUS via expansion box, so that’s a thing.
