Learning data analysis

Hey I’m looking to learn data analysis (RaceStudio 3) to analyze where I can do better on the track.
Been watching YouTube tutorials but I’m wondering what y’all pay attention to when analyzing data after each session.
I’ve been told by an experienced driver at the track that reading engine temperatures is super important - what are some other important metrics?

First you need to have a goal in mind - are you looking for a chassis setup change, driver errors, engine health, etc.

EGTs will be important if you are looking for jetting changes and stuff like that, but there’s no point looking at EGTs if you just changed tire pressure and want to know what that did. Data is very much a “needle in the haystack” problem, but there are very logical ways to figure out what part of the haystack has the needle in it. Just depends on what the “needle” is in this metaphor.

90% of what you need to know is in the RPM and GPS speed trace.

My video on data isn’t perfect but it is a good place to start:

The AIM videos posted to youtube are a huge resource. I reccomend using 2 computers. Watching on 1 and then trying to duplicate what they are doing at the same time. Then go to the track and try to duplicate it. Start small and slow with just a few things at a time / per track day.

Contact Kartspeed Solutions and take the class or have a data meeting. You will learn 100 times faster than on your own.
