Lightest Weight Certified Kart Suit?

Hey there, I am a 6’2" 31 year old guy racing LO206 in Sr. class. I’m an athletic build and its difficult to for me to not be over the 360 lbs class weight. So, I’m trying to look into ways to lighten up my setup to help a bit.

One way I was considering was to find the lightest kart suit that is still certified. I currently wear a Alpinestars KMX-9 V3 suit which feels super heavy (and hot) to me. Shopping around, I find it wild that manufacturers don’t list the total weight of the suits! So, I figured I’d ask here.

Is anyone aware of what the lightest certified kart suit is on the market right now?

Probably would be something dye-sub printed without embroidery. OMP and FreeM offer dye-sub suits now.

Yeah the OMP KS-2 ART suits look pretty light but I’ve never held one in person.

Impact karting jacket and some Dickie work pants saves me 4 pounds vs my suit.

I think I’d like to stay with a full suit if possible. But, good to know!

Perhaps. But I already don’t love my Alpinestars suit so it got me thinking.

The whole legitimacy of certification in what we get our hands on here clouds what is light vs not at light.

Personally because I’ve never once had my suit checked racing here in the US makes that less of a factor for me.

I have a Sparco x-light that is expensive and heavy and hot. I can rest assured this cert is probably valid but the suit is far from light in my opinion.

I have a “certified” u-race suit that has to be a full pound lighter.

I have a Sparco indoor suit that I wear in practice that doesn’t even attempt certification but is the lightest and most comfortable of them all.

I also go this route, also… real 4 stroke racers wear dickies or jeans. :smile:

About a year ago I was a corner marshall and I saw someone come flying out a kart, they were flat, arms and legs stretched and then landed on the track.

Until then, I was considering thinner suits and this convinced me to get a suit with a decent amount of abrasion protection. I ended up with the OMP K3 since it is three layers. Yeah, it does get hot but that is the price for abrasion protection…

I have couple of those and they are beatifully made, in my opinion the best one for karting.
But… they are not light… Between the new MIR races suit and the Marika Unik there are 600 grs of difference !

Can anybody recommend the lightest cik fia certified suit available? I’ve got a AS kmx5 v2 that’s heavy and hot as hell. I weighed it vs my car racing lightweight sparco suit which is a size larger and it’s amazing the difference.

I can’t find any data online that specifies weigh really.
