LO206 popping on over-run and hesitation just off throttle

Hello all

I have a new engine install. After watching a video from a well regarded gent. I turned my air fuel screw out a couple of turns. Then took the kart out. All it seemed to do was add a huge amount of over run back firing. So I returned it to stock which was 2 turns out from closed.

The popping reduced, I still have small amount of popping but nothing like the disturbing amount before. I did also check the exhaust header bolts for tightness.

Now I have a hesitation off closed throttle when opening the throttle again. Then it fires back into life. Imagine just as you press the throttle you cut the engine between cracking the throttle and 1/2 throttle and then turn it back on and away it goes to full throttle without issue.

Float height is 860 and needle clip is in the middle. All unchanged from standard.

This is all at sea level.

Thanks for any tips.

Start with the basics. Did you have the carb off to set float height? Is there a leak at the carb to manifold or engine? Or leak at the throttle cap? Double check float height. Are the jets clear? Try moving the needle to another position and record how reacts. Same for the air bleed screw.

Thanks Brian. I will double check those points.
