If I remember correctly, the first club race was supposed to be in a week or two. I’m guessing that is pushed back? Looks like a fun track and excited to drive it.

I am wondering the same what they are going to do as the event was supposed to be the same weekend as DKC Nelson Ledges and I already paid. I would be okay if they kicked it ahead a couple of weeks into August. Atleast they are making progress, however have they hired the staff?

Building public roads or buildings can be done on an old landfill but the remediation work is crazy expensive and only gets done in places where land is very expensive. I worked on a project near DC where the put 20 feet deep of fill soil on top of the landfill, then put monitoring plates to see when it stopped settling. I think it took a few years for the settlement to stop and then they could start construction

When it comes to roads failing, heavy vehicle exponentially do more damage to a road than lighter vehicles. It takes hundreds or even thousands of cars to do the same amount of damage as 1 loaded dump truck. Since karts are so light, they probably just did nothing and know they will likely have to mill and resurface in a few years.

Interesting. I always thought landfills never stabilize. My only interaction with a reclaimed landfill was a Golf course…and i’m sure it wasn’t that critical being a golf course.

RHYNO LINER! Going to be the hot topic all weekend. Hate that they have to to that with brand new tracks. I wonder if the karts started tearing up the asphalt already. Speed + sticky tires is hell on the asphalt. We have to patch up our corners at Badger, but we only patch, we don’t over do it and ruin the corner.

Article according to the article August 17th is the first race. Based on the track video looks like they still need a lot work to get it ready. Will be interesting to hear the impressions after this Saturday.

Looks like a really fun lap. However, I can’t see how that’s going to be ready for August 17th… No curbing, scoring building not done… One big issue with a new track is how dirty it gets when you don’t have any grass grown yet. We experienced that at Quaker City this last weekend…

Pumped for GLSS August 31 track looks great… It seems like the “Pitt Race, Quaker City, and the Lorain triangle” is going to be the Mecca for karting for many years to come. So many fantastic facilities cognacent of each other’s schedule and having uniform classes (especially on the 206 side) all within 3 hours of one another.

Where are all the Tillotson drivers coming from.

I’ve been running Great Lakes Sprint Series, pumped to hit that track next month.

That’s a pretty cool incentive, to be sent to Italy. I know that Rotax used to do something similar. Perhaps they will rent them? I have only seen (1) T4 and it was the owner of LOK.

Yep they will have the Tillotson T4 rental karts there..

New Race Schedule for LOK just posted…
