“Low” Enclosed Trailer Options?

Hello All,

Since getting back into karting I’ve been using a 5’ x 8’ trailer that I purchased from Northern Tool. I’ve done a little customization to it for use with a kart and, frankly, it works great. However…

I’m thinking about getting an enclosed trailer as it can sporadically / frequently rain where I live, and having an enclosed trailer would allow me to lock my gear up, drive in terrible weather, and visit tracks out of my immediate area. There is one problem however - my HOA.

My HOA won’t allow the trailer to be stored in the driveway and I don’t care to keep it offsite. So, it will need to be kept in my garage. No problem! I have a garage with 10’ - 12’ high ceilings. However, the garage door to get in inside is only 80” tall, and that’s the issue.

The best option that I’ve been able to find is a Haulmark Flex (like this picture)

but unfortunately, they appear to no longer be made. I’d like something a touch longer (and possibly a touch wider) as well.

Anyone have an idea or suggestion?

Where are you located? Here in the Midwest, most good/reputable trailer dealers can order you custom sizes (especially heights).

If your still open to creativity my first enclosed trailer was a pop up gutted and modified. I modified the back so I lifted it out once the top was up so I could roll the karts in and out. We raced two trailers out of it. The best thing is I got it almost free because it had bad canvas on the fold bed extension so it was essentially worth nothing as a camper.

Look for a Cargo Craft EV6101. I can post pictures of mine if interested. It fits in the garage. I use a trailer dolly to push it in as it does not fit when it is on the hitch.

Thank you for the responses. I should have clarified in my original post that I would need to buy used (to keep the cost down). The pop-up trailer is a cleaver idea for sure, but another project just isn’t in the cards right now.

That little Cargo Craft would be perfect. @Numbah26 would you mind checking the overall height of yours? It says 78" but would like verification if possible.

Front was 79in, back was 80in. Garage opening is 81in. Mine is from 2020, which seems to spec the height at 78in but may be different based on the model and the wheels/tires?

Intreresting. Thank you!

@Numbah26 are you using a motorized trailer dolly with your trailer? I’m currently using a non-motorized one, but with the extra weight it seems like that not be realistic.

I wish.

I am using this: https://www.northerntool.com/products/ultra-tow-adjustable-trailer-dolly-600-lb-capacity-58017

What the comments say about the tires are true. I ended up drilling holes and filling with expanding foam. There are no easily sourced off the shelf replacements and the specd ones are not cheap and will need to be ordered from NT.

I back the trailer close to the garage, stick the dolly under and push for 10 feet. It is pretty easy, as long as I have shoes on.

Ahhh. I’m using the Harbor Frieght equivelent.

Seems like I may be over thinking this (not surprising). I can back things up to the garage as well as long as there aren’t a bunch of cars in the street.

Thanks again for your insight. It’s very much appreciated!
