Mark Bergfelt, founder of Unlimited All-Stars Has Passed

From Facebook today, very sad news about one of the pioneers of unlimited/outlaw karting.

[quote] It is with great sadness and deep respect that I share the passing of Mark Bergfelt, the longtime Executive Director and founder of the Unlimited All-Stars (UAS).

Mark was more than a leader-he was the heart and soul of this organization for over three decades. In 1990, he saw something in the open karting world that others missed: the spirit of innovation, camaraderie, and pure racing passion. With that vision, he created the UAS, not just to preserve a form of racing, but to cultivate a culture. What started in Western Pennsylvania grew into a national series, thanks to his tireless efforts, unwavering principles, and love for the sport.

Mark’s legacy is everywhere-in the roar of a powerful engine on a short dirt oval, in the creative spirit of racers building machines their own way, and in the friendships formed in the pits across the country. He never sought the spotlight, but his leadership guided us all. He was deliberate, principled, and unshakably dedicated to keeping the UAS a place for racers, by racers.

As the current Executive Director, I can say with certainty that none of us would be here without him.

The foundation he built remains solid, and we will continue to grow and thrive by holding fast to the values he instilled: fairness, ingenuity, respect, and fun.

Mark Bergfelt was not just a steward of the UAS-he was a steward of the racing spirit itself. May we honor him by carrying that torch forward.

Rest in peace, Mark. You will always be remembered in the sound of the green flag waving, the dirt flying, and the engines roaring.
