After seeing some posts on reddit and talk to some fellow karting drivers, I was wondering if people would be interested in a complete masterclass on driving fast on the wet.
Driving with slicks and rain tyres, with onboard footage and also simracing footage ?
That largely depends on where you are, some areas get rain quite frequently and thus get more proficiency doing it. My area is more dry so I don’t race in the rain much, which I don’t mind but I’m not the best in the rain either.
Well with Keith and GRX, the wet is no problem. Also, @EnduranceKarting sends it in the rain, too!
I had a great time helping open GRX with Keith and got to spend multiple days driving in moist stuff. Was epic.
What Tanguy is referring to is that many rental facilities opt to not have sessions when the track is wet as, obviously, general public novice karters tend to be overwhelmed by slicks in wet conditions. I guess it’s a CYA thing. But, fortunately, some faciiities send it anyways.
What I have picked up from @tankyx and Marc (my English Channel - Normandy rain specialists) is the need to break the rules I learned driving in the dry. Forcing rotation, making the kart turn vigorously, setting your ass free, as it were.
