May Have a Sickness

I may have a sickness…who can relate?

(1) CRG Heron-derived LTO (oval) chassis – almost a runner.

(1) CKI Laser LTO chassis - needs reassembled and brake system

(1) NITRO Lefty chassis – almost assembled, for my son.

(1) RaceFactory / KA100 package – runner.

(1) Vintage TRICK Enduro – needs reassembly and rehab

(1) JAGUAR Situp Enduro – needs minor attention and reassembly

(1) MARGAY Pro-X – needs brakes and reassembly

(1) OUTLAW Quarter-Midget – needs parted out or rehabbed

(1) Microd chassis – needs major rehab and fabrication

(1) RK sprint chassis – taking up floor space, belongs to another driver

Total chassis / karts - (10). Total drivers? (1.5)

Plenty of ‘off-season’ projects. But the season starts here Feb. 1st, so not much time… More than half the chassis were sub-$500 ‘deals’ that I thought, “Hey, I can flip that for a profit someday!” (cue: uproarious laughter.)

Btw, where’s my savings account? I appear to have misplaced it.

Make Offers longer than 20 chrs. LOL

What’s a microd? sounds like it has potential.

A kart-like vehicle indigenous to upstate NY. Races on 1/10 mi. asphalt ovals using Briggs 5hp (now LO206 or Animal) power. Originals were wooden-frames, now full-suspension metal frames:

There is an ‘Open Wheel’ class also that used to be largely home-built frames, but is now largely quarter midgets.

I’m envious of your storage space! Lack of places to keep more things definitely keeps me in check at this point. (maybe that’s actually a good thing, I don’t know :winking_face_with_tongue:)

Probably! My goal is to reduce to 4 – the 2 modern chassis for my son and I, and the 2 vintage karts. I will rehab and donate the microd and ‘open wheel’ to the clubs that helped me get started… beyond that, Facebook marketplace beckons. I do indeed appreciate my 24x36 shop, but would also appreciate the ability to walk around in it…

I would race that. Looks like a fun vehicle.

I don’t see any problem.

It also makes me feel better about 4 cars and 4 karts in a 24x36 garage. And the fact that I’ve been thinking about a microsprint…

Bring some of those karts to the OVKA Swap

Had a micro….considering a winged outlaw kart. Lol

Ted, correct me if im wrong, but I thought microds were for drivers under 18?

I’m flattered, however, @Ted_Hamilton

We have tried adult.classes, but its hard with the small footprint. MICRODS ARE ONLY 36” WIDE X 96 LONG, unlike the more square karts. Open Wheel adult classes have run successfully. Especially when custom built. (See: microstocks, a close cousin to NY’s open Wheel series.)

Any photos of your CRG Heron-derived LTO?

As far as i am aware the only oval tube chassis is the CRG Epoch from the 90s, i have couple of them, one is the gearbox version

I have the sister kart to Mark Bergfelt’s (RIP), orignally owned by Don Roy. The kart above is identical, except owned by Andy Hines (“Chim-Chim” on Bob’s 4Cycle) And I should be clear – this isn’t an oval TUBE kart, it’s a kart for OVAL racing, done by CRG. Rare, and WKA moved to ban both Birel and CRG from intruding in the oval market. Dumb.

Didn’t know that, I guess it was a way to protect american brands?
