Meteor-DiCarmine Piston for TM R2

Has anyone tried a DiCarmine piston? Just curious if they actually run any better or last longer?

No experience with them personally, but someone I race with has used them due to the lighter weight options available. The factory Vertex pistons perform well in terms of wear, so I’d be surprised if DiCarmine outperforms from that standpoint.

I’ve used Meteor brand pistons in the past and they wear much faster than the Vertex piston. Not sure if DiCarmine uses a different alloy or not.

I haven’t used them, but have been curious myself. I like the little oil jet holes they have on the exhaust side of the piston. Theoretically should help with wear.

Di Carmine uses Meteor pistons as shell…

They using meteor piston blanks and doing their own machining and such to them? Potentially heat or cryo treating possibly?

+1 the Factory Vertex have been the best performers for TM. Now I’m running LKE, OEM is Meteor and works great for it. I don’t think it’s a matter of one brand being better than the other, Vertex, Asso, Meteor have decades of experience and you can’t go wrong with either. The final verdict on performance/reliability/wear is a factor of materials, design, shape etc and, in my opinion, when it comes down to it, OEM always has a slight edge on overall performance across those areas

Exactly.
In Motori Seven we do use Meteor pistons with our specifics
