Just had a horrible weekend where I was off the usual pace and searching the chassis and engine for reasons I was slow, I’ve found a front mxc leaking near a bolt hole, would a very slow leak cause slow lap times? Like 3 to 4 tenths?
Depends on how slow the leak is. If you end up with a flat tire, yes. If it’s a minor leak that only lets out a pound or two of air, probably not an issue.
Tyre wasn’t flat in fact I didn’t pick up on the problem until today it was at 3 psi down from 10 on Sunday, the tyre was just not going up like the rest, so I usually gain 2psi in a race it was going up half a psi instead
1.5 psi loss in one tire isn’t going to be the source of your problem.
Did you notice any issues with the handling of the chassis?
Was it the wheel or the beadlock/o-ring?
The kart just felt like either the rear bumper had fallen off or a seat stay had broken it was very unpredictably loose at the rear
It’s got air coming where the bubbles are, I was searching the kart for an issue or crack in the frame or a tyre off the bead or something this is all I can find
Weird place for a leak. Unfortunately I’d go ahead and replace it. It’s going to be hard to buy just a single wheel. Check the usual online stores and maybe you will get lucky and they have a single MXC for sale.
Yep stress cracks in an MXC are not unheard of, particularly with the 130mm I’ve found. Have chased that issue before and it is unpleasant to find it is not repairable.
In Australia we can buy them individually but $255 each
Well I think we know the solution to the crack and .3 issue. Right @tjkoyen?
Not as long as they are still so unreasonably difficult to mount a tire on.
Dish soap, heat, and tire tongs and even my dad can mount them!
