My two Top kart rotax’s have Mychron 4’s installed and when we were out at Fontana kart track the lap times would record. Since Fontana closed and we are now at Adams there are no lap times recording, I assume this is because there is no timing beacon set up by the track. If that’s the case can I purchase my own beacon and set it up?
Right now my lap times at Adams from hand timing is dead on 46 seconds, I have no idea if that’s good or bad 
Hand timing is surprisingly accurate btw. Once you get the groove going its typically less than 5/100 off.

Yes, you just need your own beacon to set up.

Don’t think you need any beacon…Adams has magnetic strips so your lap timer should pick them up. I have the same Mychron 4 setup on my 100 FA/FSA and have no issues at Adams. Make sure the pickup is mounted in the correct position, there is a specific diagram on how to mount it

There is a magnetic and optical pickup which are different. The OP has an optical pickup but could certainly replace it with a magnetic pickup to use the tracks strip.

correct, a magnetic pickup is super cheap, plenty used on ebay too vs investing on a beacon

Andy, do you know what lap times are roughly for Adams… Rotax or KA?
