Im new to go kart need help in fixing or replacing the rear brake caliper, it says crg, was told its a 40mm axle, rotor is 7 to 8 inches diameter and its double sided vented rotor with 12 mm thickness, go kart is a shifter kart CRG was not able find no tag or id on it, brake caliper has teh inline screws cracked so how can i replace them or do i need replace the whole brake?? Its a dual line, 4 piston brake and the master cylinder is one line bumper says virguti?
Crg ven99 brake. Any kartshop should be able to supply lines and fittings.
While the caliper is off replace the seals, find a local automotive brake specialist you need two 3/4 cup seals and two 7/8 cup seals for the rear caliper.
I went to my local shop but they only carry atvs and motorcycle parts told me id need order that online since it a shifter Kart, not even the brake lines nor fittings they had, the screws that are in an angle can they be removed? Are they threaded? Not sure if you can zoom in on photo with cracked fitting oo and im in California only have one shop and sadly they do t carry for this go kart
This fitting may fit, it’s for a tonykart so unsure if the threads are different.
Or you could go to the nylon brake lines and compression fittings but you would need to replace all the fittings and lines. 6mm Metric 90 Degree Compression Fitting - Shop Karting Parts | Comet Kart Sales
6mm Metric Straight Compression Fitting - Shop Karting Parts | Comet Kart Sales
Metric Nylon Brake Line 6mm OD - Shop Karting Parts | Comet Kart Sales
Can you be more specific on what you are in need of? I can see the 90* fitting is cracked, but is there something else? With the age of the caliper I would question what the pistons, cylinder bore and seals look like too. When I started in karts I bought an older CRG and the aluminum was corroded inside. I would suggest a complete breakdown before you go on a parts chase.
Well i finally got the brake connectors removed, the inside looks good the brakes worked but didnt hold pressure because of the crack on threads, the guy who sold it to me had a bunch of i think electrical tape and some wierd seal tape to keep it from leaking i took all that off been looking for the brake lines to replace them with the fittings, and just in case it dont work no more i wanted to know what brake caliper should i look for to use ? The rotor it currently has is a vented one its 12mm thick any recommendations on a decent brake system to use with it? Sorry wasn’t able provide much details at time was at work when i posted it
I might do this just need find out what the actual threads are i have some old fittings from brake lines same size but the threads are differnet sorta like fine thread, might have to check tractor supply to find out actual type thread
Would these work for my rotor, its 7 -8 inches, 12 mm thick vented, not sure if axle info needed but it on a 40mm axle
