Hey y’all. I’m new to the bay area and would love to get started on karting at the local tracks. I’ve read about 1) Sonoma Raceway, 2) Blue Max Kart Club, 3) Prairie City Kart Track among a few others but would love to get more perspectives on where to practice.
I would also love to train with anyone who’s in the area!
I’m currently racing Senior X30 in Asia with a team but will be training solo soon as school starts (that’s sophomore year of college for me). My goal is to simply attend club races for my first year in the bay. I’d appreciate any guidance when it comes to training and racing! Thank you!
Hello. I personally have been to Blue Max and Prairie City. Both are great tracks to practice on. If you are in school, I’m assuming you won’t own a kart. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Blue Max is a club track. So you either have to be a member or go on a day where a member is present and pay the daily practice fees. Nice track. Reverse is a blast. When I went on weekdays I basically had the track to myself. Plan accordingly if you go solo!
Prairie City is a track that is part of the state park. There is a entrance fee to get to the kart track if $5 since it’s part of the state park. There is a shop there and staff there. So if something breaks you can get picked up and likely get parts if you need. They do rental karting too. So they mix that in throughout the day as needed.
I haven’t been to Sonoma yet. It’s pricey for practice days and they don’t have open practice everyday. There is a calendar online. They do rental karting as well but it’s also expensive. Probably why I haven’t gone.
