Hi, wanted to share some of mine and my dads work, ee have been working on a concept to make seat padding look nice and be functional! So we have partners up with a swedidh textile brand. We have designed and engineered thos whole thing ands its fully customizable…
That’s very cool!!!
That’s pretty awesome, and extremely marketable I’d say.
Looks like it would make the seat more comfortable for those of us with little built in padding?
How much does it raise you?
Being fully customizable I assume you could choose how much, if any, spacer you want and if you choose none it’ll just be material so only a few mm. Definitely beats my yoga mat
I we measured and when seated it will saise you 40mm of the seat if heacier then 60kg me it will be less
I have had hundreds shooting me dms every day on insta but i cant deliver since its so new we need to establish a line in textile company to get proce down alot in current state i payed 1000 to develop ans produce im hoping final product costs no more then 200-350 depending on how custom
China is the way forward.
Very retro, very cool. I always wondered why we abandoned padded seats.
Makes me wish I had a kart to buy one for… rebel scum yellow and purple.
Yes; took inspiration from the old colored padding. I spoke to my praga delar that won the swe champs like 1960s he saud that it abonded it beacuse you loose feel for the kart but u did not feel any diffrence was 0.100 slower on testing but that was just tire degradation. So we will be also sooo comfy
40mm? That’s a huge amount of raise, that’s more than the rain insert pad even are. If it were very thin on the bottom to not raise the driver I think it would be better.
Curiously enough I used one of those super thick foam inserts for a few heats this weekend and it went fine despite the higher cog. It does look like the butt pad at the bottom of Mikes design is potentially optional. Thats what seems to do the raising (oval butt pad in pic).
I like the idea and think it’s cool but yeah raising the driver 40mm is a huge change for handling. If the base was un-padded that would be good.
The interaction between the driver and seat is obviously super important to handling, so would just want to make sure the pad doesn’t absorb too much of the driver’s leaning or move the driver’s body in a way that would affect the handling negatively.
Are they elastic at all? Or do you need a different size/shape for each seat size/shape?
So sorry guys! I did not mean 4cm i meant about 5mm
Sorry for giving you the wrong info
They are sewed for your seat and it adds 5mm sorry i misspelled didnt mean 40mm
These are impressive. How much do they weight?
I would love one for my Emmick Star. Very cool idea and should be a big hit with the Vintage crowd.
