Other 'Dangerous' Hobbies

@tjkoyen – What did you do @ Trek?

I started as a production design intern, fitting graphics to bike frames, then I worked in the Retail Services department designing in-store graphics for all their bike stores. Finally, I was a product graphic designer for Bontrager. I designed graphics for wheels, tires, helmets, saddles, and other components.

Does flying count?

I’d say so… What type?

Not the kind where you strap rotating blades to your head, presumably.

Figured I’d find a couple martial artists in this comment section. Nice.

Outside of these the most extreme thing I’ve ever done was rappelling from a huge face with no training. Not something I would do again. Push to pass on all climbing activity.

Also, how the heck did Yves get a defense contractor to sell him what are probably cruise missile engines?

Climbing is always fun, I ski too. That’s about it for my adventure sports. Trying to get into mountaineering though

ACtually, these are rather common large r/c turbines…not hard to get. Just $$$.

For a measly 5k we can launch ourselves to our doom? It is remarkable what one is or is not allowed to purchase!

Most of us have to build our own… I’m waiting for v2.0:

Wow, that is wild. Beautiful photos though looks very scenic.

So, who’s gearing up for ski season? I scored a local set of shaped skis almost new and complete outfit for $150 from a young cop who had ACL surgery and didn’t want to risk re-injury… Hoping to put it to good use this year.
Just got my kids into skiing last year… Probably missed my window for a cheap season pass already tho… :frowning:

Is arguing with spouse considered dangerous? I am thinking of taking up karate, although I wouldn’t call it dangerous…

Arguing with your ACL is usually dangerous. But that’s Ted for ya.

Only dangerous if you plan on ‘winning.’ Not all losing is losing, however…

The ski hills around Syracuse typically have their best deal in the spring. Greek Peak offered a 3 pack for $99 last season that I believe they are doing again this season.

I used to ski Labrador instead of Greek because it was cheaper…though more of a drive. I grew up in Dryden.

Now that I’m in NC, I ski at Winterplace, WV. Pretty reasonable. Season pass was $400 in the summer, not sure what it’s bumped to now. Boone has some resorts too, but they have inflated tourist pricing…
