OTK Brake pressure sensor leaking

I recently bought the AIM OTK Brake pressure sensor. It came with just what looks to be a copper washer between the sensor and fitting. I tightened it, it leaked. I tightened a bit more, it leaked. I tried going more and stripped it out. Bought another one. Same thing. I’m at the point now where I feel like if it’s any tighter it’ll strip out. What can I do to fix this? Teflon tape (something for hydrolic lines) or locktite?

Here’s the sensor I’m talking about.

It is leaking between the sensor and the adapter?

When does the leak start? Immediately after installation? After some use?

The crush gasket between the sensor and the adapter is new?

Wonder if you have a bad adapter.

It just has a copper washer. It doesn’t look like a crush washer. I’m also wondering if it’s just a bad sensor. I can’t tell exactly where it’s leaking from. I’m pretty sure it’s where the sensor goes in though. I may try some 567 Loctite…

You said you replaced the sensor and still have a leak. Yes? If so relaxing the sensor doesn’t seem like the right thing to do.

I got ahold of AIM tech support and they said to use thread sealer like 567 Loctite to prevent any leaking.

Please share the results of doing that.

My friend and I installed the AIM brake pressure sensor and didn’t use any thread sealant. It has been through one practice, and race day and so far so good.

One thing we did - someone here pointed it out as an option and I’m so so grateful to them for it - we mounted it on the brake caliper. This meant we didn’t have to change the brake line. The wire is plenty long.

I haven’t started using it at yet because I need to work out the installation of the expander. I did plug it into the expander and it reads fine.

What are you using for a battery for the overall AIM system?

Well, my first time at the track I think it leaked a bit and the brakes were going out at the end of the session. Going to look into it more next week.

I thought about putting it on the caliper too, but I wasn’t sure if it would be ok with the heat?

For the battery, I’m just using the built in mychron 5 battery. But when trying to run tire temperature sensors and this, and a throttle sensor, everything started reading 0 after about 20 seconds. I disconnected the tire temperature sensors and it seemed to be fine with just the built in battery. It does drain pretty fast though so you’ll want something external if you’re doing more than an hour of driving a day.

Re: temperature at the caliper - check the temp of the caliper when you come back after a session.

My caliper tends to not be warm but I’m running lo206 and the brake usage is not that much.
