Before I purchase otk short hubs will the go on a 1000mm axle? Worried there will be no axle to hold on to
You will be limited on how wide you can go for rear width. You should be able to make the 53" minimum that some series require, making 55-1/4" may be a bit difficult.
Ok thanks, saves me money, I’m trying to remove as much rear grip as possible so max width is required
Try a harder axle with short hubs rather than a shorter axle with short hubs. If you have that option.
Yeah thanks I’m trying a 1000 H axle from a 1000 N, I’ll have to purchase a 1030 H and short hubs also I think.
For my home track I’ve had positive results with a short N axle because it has a lot of single direction changes and no big braking areas, getting the kart to change direction easily has been a massive improvement
Out of pure curiosity, what is your home track?

I have used the original short magnesium OTK hubs (77 mm) with a 1000 mm axle and go as wide as 140 cm on the rear width with no problems, we have some shorter aluminum RR hubs (62mm if I’m correct) but I think with those there’s not enough axle to hold on to.
