Otk stub extensions

Has anyone tried the otk stub extenders and if so what was your thoughts on them?

Seems dodgy. I’d rather move rod ends on the pitman arm of the steering shaft.

Saw it only twice in Junior. From what I could ask it helped them to move the steering wheel easier because they didn’t have enough force in their arms, but once they grew up they stopped using them.

They are OEM OTK parts

What does it do exactly? Could anyone explain it?

It just moves the mounting point of the tire rod farther away from the king pin, giving you more leverage, making it easier to turn.

Think of it like a swinging door. If you try to push the door open at a point closer to the door hinges, it’s harder to push the door open. If you push the door open farther away from the hinges (ie door handle) it gives you more leverage to open the door easier

While not a major factor compared to steering effort, it does slightly change Ackerman as well.

It will also reduce the amount of total steering lock available by a few degrees.

They are a great tool for a smaller driver that lacks the upper body strength to either initiate enough initial steering input or maintain input to carry lift.

For anyone with the strength they are just a band-aid for not having the discipline to being very deliberate with your steering input. If a driver can’t help from flicking an OTK on entry then they just need better discipline, not a tool to let them keep doing it wrong.

I kinda feel the same about positions on the column though. Put it at the bottom and learn to drive it right.
