I have had good luck with the Spraymax 2K clear rattle cans but I want to start mixing and spraying clear with a gun so will be on the hunt for a mid priced gun. I tried using Spraymax gloss black from a rattle can on a gas tank and it was terrible.
I have heard that GSI Creos airbrushes are very, very good, especially for the $. They are basically exact copies if Iwatas (they are also made Japan, but are about 1/2 the cost and can use Iwata needles and parts). There are many excellent reviews for them on YouTube. When (if) I get back into airbrushing, I’m going to pick up one of there Micron+ copies.
So do you just have a nice sprayer that snaps onto the top of the can to get a nice spray pattern?
No, sprayed straight out of the can. For big solid color fields, spray pattern doesn’t matter that much.
Over the winter, I replaced a cab corner on my track day truck and used rattle can paint. I’m really pleased with the results. It looks better than the rest of the truck!
Interesting. Anything I’ve normally shot out of a can has been splotchy. Might just be the crappy stuff from the hardware store versus actual automotive stuff.
It looks great John! I know you said you were disappointed with not enough Hotrod Sparkle, but I think after the clear went on that it is perfect. You can still see it, but it doesn’t take away from the purple giving the design more depth.
Kudos Sir!
Thanks Greg, I appreciate the kudos!
