PGR Thows a Birthday Party for Jenson Button With Ricciardo

A pretty cool thing that happened recently. What makes it even cooler was Karting’s own @chrisortenburger was given a last minute opportunity to get involved and meet his racing hero.

Phil Giebler Racing, one of the most renown kart racing teams and Ricciardo Kart distributor on the West Coast, put on a star-studded event for their customers at CalSpeed Karting and celebrated the birthday of Formula One Champion driver, Jenson Button. Jenson invited his good friend and Red Bull Racing driver, Daniel Ricciardo as the duo spent the afternoon lapping, discussing the old days of karting with PGR drivers, and demonstrating the 2018 Ricciardo karts to the 90+ people at this very private event.

Drivers were able to get on track and race the IAME powered karts for some laps to get a feel of the Birel ART developed Ricciardo Kart, featuring the new wind-tunnel inspired body work and 2018 graphic kit.

Daniel Ricciardo, passionate about Motorsports, came together with Birel ART a few years ago to collaborate on a Ricciardo branded kart, a machine that had immediate success on a global scale earning Championships on National karting circuits everywhere. Phil Giebler, a veteran kart racer, driver coach and team owner and his father Everett, have taken charge of the brand management and Ricciardo distribution for West Coast America, making use of their name and experience to grow the Ricciardo brand for maximum success.

Both Daniel and Jenson are every bit as consummate and cordial as you’d like. It’s refreshing to see, they really do genuinely enjoy driving them. I’ll try to add some value add commentary nobody is really talking about:

Thought this little helmet inscription was golden. DR gave a race used helmet to JB.

Will let @KartingIsLife speculate what this inscription means?

The event was also really cool. Newcomers to karting literally bought the karts from the event. Hand signed and inscribed by Daniel and Jenson themselves. What a cool keepsake to say you have THE kart used by the 2009 world champion. Or a hand-signed Ricciardo kart… from Ricciardo.
