yep, it’s a hybrid chassis for 250 National (front end set up is very much normal CIK scenario but the design is long circuit). 250 national is a basically people racing long circuit karts on short circuits. so the seat is laid back for aero as well as traction purposes. (65hp in 250 National 95+hp in Div 1)
Gotcha thanks. So not quite a full lay down.
yeah, not like the freak laydown karts you boys race in the states.
Those (in many cases older) guys are a special breed of crazy. Much respect.
DSD-L on a jolly kart step1
Not my kart but I did restore it. The owner is in the Swiss hutless
what will happen when that nose cone hits an apex im scared to see
Man, @Alan_Dove, I feel like you have a really laid back seating position. Was it just for that kart, or are you always like that?
twenty characters…
Hybid chassis between long and short circuit hence the longer wheel base than usual. 250s have a ton of power so you need good traction, thus weight over rear. They also tend to run on different configuration layouts on UK circuits (longer straights) so there’s an aero benefit too.
That was as low as it got…but there’s enough flex there not to cause issues – just scrape some plastic off. That was the fastest tight corner on GoPro Motorplex, and that kart had a worn nose rail the previous owner didn’t tell me about… Since sold. I have a 1998 Birel CR832 this year…we’ll see if the RetroRocket can keep up…
Roebling Road! Love that place. I grew up watching my dad run his formula v there and later his H-Prod Civic with SCCA.
So shiny and clean!
From the front it looks kinda like a race spider!
