I consider myself fairly diligent on checking my kart throughout the day for loose hardware and trying to head off issues before they happen. However, this is one that never has really been a concern. My out lap for my first practice I went to hit the brakes for turn 2 and the pedal goes full travel and did nothing. Luckily I wasn’t going full speed. I was able to basically spin out into the grass without hitting anyone or thing. Back in the pits I discovered the brake master cylinder fulcrum pivot broke in half. I actually found half (short piece in the pic) on the ground. The other half was in the kart for turn 1 and departed shortly after that. To me the irony is there is a safety cable that does nothing if the fulcrum pivot fails. Moral of the story…check everything!
