Race trailer refurb

Nice.

Glad you mentioned that you work for a trailer manufacturer.

Can you share your on the fasteners to use? Any considerations besides drill a pilot hole through the plywood into the metal frame?

How much weight is okay to hang?

To fit everything, I think I need a shelf above the kart but I really didn’t want to do it because it will be more effort to load and unload. So, maybe a shelf up high might work.

What are you going to do for your spare tire?

For mounting stuff like e track and cabinet, I used fasteners from E track, but they are just 1/4 x 1 1/4" flange head screws. Self tapping for securing into the metal studs, and wood screws the same size for where there is no stud.

I’m not sure exactly how much weight they will sustain, but i know one guy that put e track on both walls, then used the E track 2x4 cradles, put 2x4 across the trailer and puts karts on them for transporting.

Spare tire is on the tongue.

Modified my plans. Still uncertain if i want to give up that much space for the locker.

I was debating whether to ask you about the locker VS a place you can hang clothes. I would think you want it open so that clothes can air out.

I have a race on Sunday. After that I’m going to firm up my plans by trial fitting items.

The 2x4s across the trailer to create another level is interesting.

So I wasnt sold on the locker at first, my son really liked the idea, so i split the locker into a single unit and tucked it up in front of the man door. To my surprise, it really doesnt take up much space, i can still get things on the vee wall behind it, and i am going to hang a broom right in behind it out of the way. It actually works perfectly for keeping all the boy’s gear organized and ready.

Finished the tire rack, added more e track, planning to add another strip along the floor for more kart strapping options.

Added the aerosol can rack on the left vee wall, put it high enough so i can open the tool cart if needed.

Getting school vibes with the locker.

Well, if my son is giving me a hard time, i can stuff him in it for the drive home.

Install a toilet and give him swirlies instead.

adding to my to-do list

Just finished up our first race day of the season. Still some fine tuning, but overall pretty pleased. Took 10 or 15 minutes for me to pack up the trailer solo.
