Adhesive was giving up around the edges and the foam was starting to break down. Was wondering why I was having some pretty gnarly skin rash and saw the edge of the fiberglass had cut through the foam.
This is more of a question of can I. When I should have asked should I be doing this.
1/10 do not recommend. A whole bunch of ripping up foam. Scraping it off with a drywall putty knife. Plus a little goo-gone, heat, and brake clean.
I’ve got a better idea of attaching the foam I’m going to tackle tomorrow. Bought some neoprene foam in different thicknesses and durometers to try out.
Also I sanded down the edges so they were not so sharp. They were a hard 90* edge so no wonder how it eventually cut clean through the foam over time.
Interesting point is you can see where it is delaminating where the seat bolts are. Probably due for a new one and retire this one for practice only.
Hmm good idea. Mine is getting old and the foam rubber feels thin now.
Straps will likely break before it’s hopeless tho.
Adhered the foam with some Velcro. I’ll have to see if it holds up. Started with some soft 1/4” thick foam.
Some added thickness where the Velcro strips are so I’ll have to see if that makes it a hotspot on the body. Worse case I glue the foam back on.

I use the kidney belt – very unobtrusive, no straps or other silliness, fits right where needed. I wear it perhaps a bit higher than kidney area, right under armits. Very adjustable, and other than the additional sweat it causes, hardly know it’s there.
