Removing middle bearing carriers?

So I’ve heard various things from people when it comes to removing the third bearing carrier, trying to soften up the rear end of a kart. I’ve heard some people say that if you just unbolt the bearing carrier without removing it from the axle that you get most of the benefits, without having to remove the axle.

Other people say that you have to completely remove it from the kart for things to flex properly. What do people on the forums think?

I’ve always just left it floating. My chassis has never been so stiff I had to loosen the back end and thought “Wow, that floating third bearing is going to be the difference here.” However, I do find myself putting the bolts back into the carrier on really grippy days when the chassis is flexing too much and I want to make a quick change.

Loose or out makes no difference.
