Rim choice for wet race

What’s your rim choice for wet race?

Last round of Route 66 race in Badger was a soaking wet race. It’s really interesting to see everyone’s rim choice for wet tire. I have seen MXJ + MXC combo, MXJ all the way, Spun aluminum and cast aluminum.

I like otk axp

But rim choice doesn’t really matter in my own testing results

Pressure is the biggest factor by miles

Theoretical best is Cast Aluminum. It builds and retains heat the best. Practically, though, anything will work just fine.

Something aluminum because it builds heat faster. Nailing the tire pressure for the conditions is half the battle though.

We ran this weekend as well. I put my son out there in MXJ with SW tires. Probably a huge disadvantage to rain wheel and SW2 tires, but at the end of the day, you have to know how to drive in the rain, and be experienced to do well. It was his first experience. He kept it on the track, and that’s all I cared about.
