RIP Gary Hartman

Sadly we’ve lost a historic figure in US karting. @Mynameismcgyver is working with folks throughout the community to gather tributes.

We met Gary Hartman in 1996 at Oakland valley when he came out for a tune up with his drivers Augie Vidovich and Patrick Long for the grand nationals later that year. For whatever reason he came up to my father after watching my race and said he would like to work with us. He got us all signed up to work with SSC/CRG and the rest was history. We won just about every race we entered all over the northeast, and later on a very successful manufacturers cup season. Gary was a great, great guy and I feel is one of the single most reasons I was able to move on to other forms of motorsports, through the success of those few short years under his tutelage. I will be forever grateful to have been able to work with such a great mind and human being.

Godspeed Gary.
