is this much side to side horizontal play normal? there is no vertical play. this is from an old my07 leopard. also would it hurt to use a roller bearing for the piston wrist pin that is 19mm or 17.5mm in length instead of 18mm?

Way too much play by just eyeballing it behind a screen…have you measured it? Also, is it the camera angle or are you missing a shim on the right?
As for the piston pin, yes it may hurt. Don’t play russian roulette with the wrist pin, They are built with a certain amount of float to work with the piston…changing it is a leap of faith that is not worth taking. Is your issue that you can’t find the correct spare part or are you trying to achieve something by using a different pin?

i have not measured it what should that measurement be? i think it is missing the shim on the right. i didnt see those shims in the rebuild manual but i see it now in the parts manual . thank you for the help this should fix that issue. is it the same shim washer used in the x30?
They are absolutely in the overhaul manual (step 8 of the crank section) as is the play measurement (step 15).
