Any reason you guys can think of why my VLR isnt firing up, it will crank and crank for days but its not getting any spark, tried replacing the stator, ignition coil, spark plug and spark plug boot all to no avail
When you are checking for spark, are you grounding the plug against the case? Is the ignition rotor installed?
yes grounding the plug against the case and ignition rotor is installed
It sounds like you have eliminated all related electrical components. How are you checking for spark? Trying to see a spark in daylight can be a challenge. An inline spark checker such as this may help:

If still no spark, I would question the kill switch and check that or eliminate it.
Im checking the spark with my garage door closed with it grounded to the engine, i already disconnected the kill switch but im going to one step farther than that and disconnect the main harness and externally start it and see if i get anything there
I’d check for ground issues. Sometimes it’s as simple as a broken ground wire.
the ground wire on the ignition coil is fine which is why my next step is replacing the entire main harness to rule out kill switch issues (even though i already have it disconnected)
The last time it ran did something happen that can be traced back to a problem? Like, did you run in the rain, have an off, anything unusual?
A long shot idea is that somehow the rotor key broke or allowed the rotor to twist so it is out of position. I believe you would still get a spark just not when it can do anything for combustion.
I want to say the VLR can be run without the harness at all as it’s just for starting. The ignition doesn’t need the battery or anything.
It might be this, i did have a slight off in the session that it cut out on me. i will be checking that shortly
it 100% can be run without the harness as others at my track have done it, i just dont have an external starter to try and fire it up
yeah the key was fine so that rules that out
Measure the resistance of the spark plug wire to ground and post the ohms.do the same for the input wires to the coil. The input will be near 1 ohm. Output will be closer to the 10+ kOhm range.
