Hi everyone, does anyone know the correct drop down level for the dellorto vhsb 34 carb? Had fuel issues a few weeks back and someone said to adjust the tab on the back of the float arm. Now I don’t know if i adjusted it too much. I’ve attached a Image showing its current level
Thanks but there’s no reference in the video to the drop down level for the float arm when the carb is held the correct way up.
That’s just not a measurement we use. You want to know the height the lever closes the needle, stops fuel flow, and set the amount of fuel in the bowl. So you want to take your measurement with the carb upside down.
The “drop down” height you are referencing doesn’t really matter.
Only time drop down really matters is if it’s allowed to drop far enough for the inlet needle to bind and stick. I don’t think it’s dimensionally possible when the floats and bowl is on though.
Not true, it does matter and is one the og the things being adjusted by the teams.
Care to explain why, versus telling me I’m just wrong?
So is this a good time to inquire about perfect orange stickers?
Carb will flood if not adjusted correctly, That’s why I asked. What i want to know is the correct level. It’s always good to learn something. But I wish bjorn would’ve answered instead of saying it does matter.lol
In my opinion you’d really have to mangle the float lever arm for it to be an issue. Unless you are currently having the carb bowl overflow I don’t think a set drop down measurement will do any good. If that is the issue just adjust a small amount at a time and find your own personal drop down height you like. Again just my opinion, but time and effort is better spent measuring and setting the float heights.
Also tech really doesn’t want to see you altering a float lever anyways. Couple guys got tossed out this year for it. So if you really need to tweak it a significant amount for a drop down height chances are at a big races you’re might get DQ for an altered part.
