“Has 140 compression “ “great spark”. What it’s doing : pops over every 1/5 try’s and when it does it dies almost instantly. I have gone through the whole carburetor and it’s all clear Specs : 160 main , 55 pilot . I have tried adjusting the pilot air screw in and out and still nothing .Also when I shine a flashlight into the back of the carburetor and try to see if it’s squirting any fuel in the engine its not but all of the passage ways are clear.Just replaced the gas tank and fuel pump and it’s getting a great fuel flow .Im trying to start it on 32:1 mix .
24:1 is more typical for karting application, that’s not preventing it from starting of course, but something to keep in mind.
What’s the condition of the fuel pump? Will it fire if you cover the intake with your hand?
It originally had a dellorto fuel pump on it but it went bad so I bought a brand new walbro fuel pump not even a week old , But when I take the fuel line off the carburetor and take the spark plug out to rotate the engine Aton of gas comes comes out so I know it’s working , I haven’t tried starting it like that before I will tomorrow . Forgot to mention when I first got it it’s didint have a pilot jet in it but actually ran but just ran super bad and boggy and after taking it down the road a few times it just bogged down and now after putting a pilot jet in it wont run again but it’s got plenty of compression to start so I’m stumped .
Sounds like it just be loaded up with fuel and oil in the crankcase. They can be boggy in general until they really clear out.
Yeah that’s what I was thinking because every time I take out the spark plug it’s super wet and the exhaust is leaking Aton . Do you have any suggestions on how to get the fuel out ?
Idling the engine with the tank drain line pulled should deplete the fuel from the carb & the motor.
Yeah but the engine doesn’t idle
So idle it manually or zip tie between the pedal & front bumper. Won’t take long to starve out the motor.
Did it run properly before the tank and pump change but before the pump went bad?
