Is it sim? Well, maybe in that some of us can’t chew gum and drive at the same time…
Goodbye, Fruit Stripe
The iconic gum, which has been sold since the 1960s, came in five flavors: Wet n’ Wild Melon, Cherry, Lemon, Orange and Peach. Each pack came with a temporary tattoo of its mascot, Yipes the Zebra.
I’ve got the clutch (and the Fanatec H-pattern/sequential shifter). I got them to simulate IRL driving, and it was great for teaching my son how to heal & toe in an iRacing Miata instead of abusing the gearbox in his real Miata.
In iRacing 99+% of the time, I just use the paddle shifters, and I only use the clutch when leaving the pits… just out of habit. That said, I just thought of this, I wonder if you could configure the clutch as a “hand brake” for drifting, trucks, etc…
Clutching is slow (and it eliminates the opportunity to LFB). You won’t achieve ultimate pace, but if you want to simulate actual driving (in certain cars), then clutch can be good. I have not found any iRacing cars that you can’t up/down shift without the clutch, but for sure some do require an manual blip when downshifting, especially into the lower gears.
No clutch for me, my Heusinkveld clutch just chills in a cabinet in my office. My wheel has clutch pedals so it’s redundant. I like having the extra space in the foot area.
I’ve been doing a lot of prep for the Daytona 24. We have a really strong lineup of guys running every class. GT3-LMP2-GTP. Should be a blast!
Our LMP2 team has an average iRating of around 4500 so hopefully that gets us in the top couple of splits.
I hit 3K a couple of weeks ago. I’m trying to get to 3.5K by Daytona, but I don’t think it will happen since I’m doing more testing/tuning rather than racing. Not bad that I’ve made it into the top 10% in only 5 months.
wellp my mid-oval baby indy car series seems to be wildly un-popular. I may have to dive in. Historically I not only did well at oval, I was also perfect safety rating. Which is odd given how pack stuff gets crashy.
So the simhub optional heelstop played havoc with my install. Also, Neils… some of us left foot brake… give us a longer cable length so we can widen the throttle/brake positions on the baseplate. The length of the cord limits you.
The heelstop had to come off a couple times to get stuff beneath it tightened up properly, but finally I’m done. I’m also using the optional pedal tray slider which adds a layer to the sandwich.
