Sim Racing Megatopic

It’s an odd one. It’s really hard to get the fast laps. Apparently the other guys are also seeing the fast ones pop up rarely.

I do feel like I’m waaaay more fluent in the track than I was a couple weeks ago. I feel like the quest for mastery is yielding fruit, daily.

So, I concur, that 17.9 is right there, waiting for me to allow myself to land it. :sunglasses:

Congrats on the license. I think I also stopped at B. What license car are you gonna race?

You are going to put down a flyer and the track/lap will just click. I think once you break that sub-18 barrier it will become more consistent in doing so.

Picking up the LMP2 car and considering trying an open-wheeler again. Maybe the Formula Renault. I’ve just been having fun with the door slammers. I’ve got the Merc and Ferrari GT3 cars so I’ll probably jump straight into those.

Is there any reason to get pro license? I assume once you have D-A all the cars are available?

I took last night off and didn’t sim.

For @tjkoyen Unfortunately Diablo 4, in its current state, isn’t quite as entertaining as its predecessors. It’s definitely fun but it’s lacking something that keeps people in the game longer, like the older versions.

Instead, I have been enjoying the Tiny Tina expansion/standalone Borderlands 2 game. It too falls short of the considerable bar set by BL2. However, it’s failings are in character and story (which was adult and brilliant in BL2), but not in gameplay.

I’m not sure what it takes to get a Pro license. And yes once you hit A you can pretty much race any car you own.

Just fired up some dirt oval stuff last night. Going back to my roots and going to work on it as well. I need constant goals.

Don’t get burnt out on the one track. Go spend an evening turning laps on the whole track then come back to it.

Pro/WC license is awarded after you finished top 20 or so in the qualifier championship to the World Championship

You know it’s interesting, you’d think given my process that I’d be bored out of my mind lapping the same thing for months upon months.

It actually doesn’t bother me at all and I kind of get into it. It’s actually really interesting watching your progress if you focus exclusively on that one track, trying to master it. The process is always the same, it always plays out the same, and it sticks. It’s cumulative, I think.

I find it peaceful, relaxing, not at all like iRacing which is generally stressful, intense.

What news on your IRL racing plans Tanguy? Your legion of fans need news. Are you going to race KZ?

I don’t know yet, life is unpredictable these days

Yeah after about level 60-70 I’m pretty bored. Nothing to do really, not sure how they expect these seasons to last at this rate. My buddies and I are on our second and third season characters now. I still enjoy mindlessly slaying demons and working on new builds. But the actual end-game content is lacking for sure.

Good to know. I’ve been holding off. I’ll probably just wait like I did for Diablo 3 once they get an end game sorted.

Oh boy now I’m interested. I think I saw a Porsche Cup Qualifier thing last night for the A license. I’m surprisingly high in the GT4 rankings for only completing 6 out of the 10 races since I got a late start to the season. I think I’m sitting around #190 out of god knows how many.

I’m sure at that level you are racing against the +8k plus iRating aliens.

Same. I made it to max and then started a seasonal and got bored quick. Alas, no endgame.

At this level, iRating is almost irrelevant. This is where you see the limit of the iRating system when it comes to rating driver skills. There is a huge gap between your regular 7-9k irating driver and a Pro/WC driver

I’ve never messed with dungeons and dragons, but Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting alot of attention.

I am indeed tempted. I played bg1 and lost a lot of time to that title in college.

Ahem…

Couple of highlights from last week’s round of bumpercars at VIR. In the first clip, the first 4 laps were just comically bad driving in a top split. Anarchy!

They should be sent to bed without dessert. I think I saw someone manage to crash twice within the same 10 seconds.

It was such a terrible round of races. There were so many more spins and accidents I just forgot to save some replays at the end of races.

I’ve not been having luck lately with the rendering speed or quality I’m getting out of DaVinci Resolve. IMO this video looks like a muddy mess even at 1440p. The raw recorded footage from OBS looks crystal clear. I think I’m going to make a switch to Premiere Pro for awhile and see if I can’t get the quality up there.
