And rubbing son is racing!
That’s my Mello Yello nascar colours kart Clayton!!
That looks amazing! I’m currently working on a custom sticker set for someone with the Mellow Yellow theme!
Didn’t have a category for this…
You can get a souvenir of the NJMP track that is being repaved:
Or, you could just cry into a bottle and mix it with gravel.
@KartingIsLife i see an opportunity for your ice karting business. Sell snow in a bottle as a memento:
Ah, Minnesota winters.
Actually, how about Epic Kart Racing on Ice snow globes? I bet those would sell.
I toyed with the idea of sending a bottle to Cleetus McFarland after I bought a piece of the freedom factory.
I had to look it up:
Yes, this seems interesting.
"Ready for a memorable day at The Freedom Factory? Here’s your opportunity to race around the world famous Freedom Factory ⅜ asphalt oval with 12 degree banking! "
Le grand soupir.
Prolly the whole UK and AUS team has been axed. There were like 5 or 6 devs in the UK and the rest was in AUS
I loved AMP, such a great track
Coming from no experience with sim, here’s a question I know that’s been asked before (I searched, but couldn’t find any direct answers) - what’s an affordable sim setup? I’m talking computer/console, wheel, pedals, seat, game. KartKraft? Kart Racing Pro? KartSim?
My goal with this setup would be to use it for training and to get somewhat familiar with new tracks before visiting them. On that note, can you source/create custom tracks? My sons and I race locally in the SoCal area, so I’d love to have tracks like SMKA, Buttonwillow, Adams, Prairie City, and Sonoma on there, as well as other national-level tracks around the country like AMP, Trackhouse, etc.
Appreciate the tips!
Can you be more specific on what affordable means to you. Ie what’s your budget.
Fair. I’m more curious what’s an entry-level amount to get a decent setup with some force feedback. I don’t even know where to start on that. Is that about a grand? Approaching $2k?
I know computers/consoles will be more than that in most cases, I’m just looking to see if anyone has a budget setup in mind that is the best bang-for-buck. I.e. Spend less and it’s not worth it because the feedback is terrible, but you don’t necessarily need to spend more if it’s just for training and you don’t want to be a competitive sim racer.
You easily build a PC capable of sim racing under $1000. And the fanatec bundles seem great with solid pricing
Iracing is the best sim I’ve played but it hurts the wallet. I play Assetto corsa a lot as well tons of fun for super cheap
Played KK a few years ago but not sure how the game is now. I was a noob karter when I tried it
It depends.
The current environment suggests that cheap DD is the future and that belt is done.
Fanatec basically sells the base for almost nothing if you buy pedals or a wheel.
As a new 15nm DD was just released I imagine that the market will see a bunch of folks upgrading. Good for used.
The cost is twofold:
PC + Rig
@tankyx can answer how much spend is required but $1500 is a common PC budget. Generally the expense is in the video card.
A new setup would be around 700 new for pedal/base/wheel at 5nm
Add another 250 or more for a rig.
From a training perspective the tracks in KK are fab but there’s only 10 or so. KRP has mods and likely a lot of tracks.
I feel like iRacing is better from a training standpoint as it’s very complete (but no karts).
Historically, gear and skill are seperate. Aliens can and do use shitty equipment. However, good equipment is sort of the rabbit hole of sim. I mean, you can spend 3k for a pedal, for example.
Be aware that it’s not the same and that some folks really just can’t suspend disbelief and find value in the experience. I think most find it helpful, in at least some ways.
Appreciate it, thanks @chase28 & @Bimodal_Rocket
I’ll have to check this out. I think my promo ran out last month.
Speaking of iRacing I took a solid two weeks off and jumped on today. I won my first and only Super Formula race I’ve ever done. I did like 20min of practice beforehand never being in the car and just went for it. Led from pole and never looked back. Should I just quit racing SF while I’m 1 & 1?
Oh… also I found out there is an overtake button after the race so I left time and horsepower on the table.
You must have a special talent for that car. That’s unusual at 2K+ IRS field. Is the car fun? Not a big field but it’s afternoon race.
