I’m so over the IMSA series. 35 and 45 minutes races just to get murdered in T1. Even with decent starting spots it doesn’t matter.
I finally got a win today, but was pointlessly rear-ended by a GT3 car and lost a healthy lead, and had to fight back to win.
I don’t think I can run this series until I get above a 3K iRating or maybe even better as it’s just a disaster in the 2K-2.5K splits.
I’m pretty happy with my VRS wheel base. I got it second hand, but have had zero issues. The software is super basic, but it gets the job done. It’s mostly a set it and forget it anyway.
And let me know how the headset works out. I’ve got the Rift S and while it’s just fine for casual games (Beat Saber & Pistol Whip), but I can’t stand it for racing. Tough with astigmatism as it is really hard for me to find a sweet spot where the image is clear.
I’ve still got a Pimax 5K (older version I believe) and while it was very immersive, everything else I didn’t like. Gets hot, booting it up can be glitchy and time consuming, and obviously a lack of detail (especially since I couldn’t wear my glasses with it on).
The Varjo looks great, but I don’t know if I would go back after having triples.
That’s where I’m at now triple 27" 1440p 165Hz monitors seem like a great sweet spot. The couple of times I tried the Rift it really helped at some tougher tracks like Road Atlanta where the depth perception really helped cresting the hill into Turn 2. Picked up a lot of time and consistency.
Think we might have the same monitors hah. I can’t say I was any more consistent or less, but I can definitely see how that could be. I kind of want to plug in the Pimax again and give it another shot
I already got the PC, the rig should hopefully arrive in time for christmas. I launched iRacing to test the image clarity and boy, it is clear. Like no visible SDE at all. A huge step above the Rift S I used.
I personally prefer turning off stabilization anyway, afterwards I use Gyroflow to fine-tune stabilization and horizon leveling, using the GPS data from the GoPro it looks much better imo since it isn’t processed real time.
