Sim Racing Megatopic

I’m so over the IMSA series. 35 and 45 minutes races just to get murdered in T1. Even with decent starting spots it doesn’t matter.
I finally got a win today, but was pointlessly rear-ended by a GT3 car and lost a healthy lead, and had to fight back to win.
I don’t think I can run this series until I get above a 3K iRating or maybe even better as it’s just a disaster in the 2K-2.5K splits.

Back to Super Formula I go!

I’m pretty happy with my VRS wheel base. I got it second hand, but have had zero issues. The software is super basic, but it gets the job done. It’s mostly a set it and forget it anyway.

And let me know how the headset works out. I’ve got the Rift S and while it’s just fine for casual games (Beat Saber & Pistol Whip), but I can’t stand it for racing. Tough with astigmatism as it is really hard for me to find a sweet spot where the image is clear.

I’ve still got a Pimax 5K (older version I believe) and while it was very immersive, everything else I didn’t like. Gets hot, booting it up can be glitchy and time consuming, and obviously a lack of detail (especially since I couldn’t wear my glasses with it on).

The Varjo looks great, but I don’t know if I would go back after having triples.

That’s where I’m at now triple 27" 1440p 165Hz monitors seem like a great sweet spot. The couple of times I tried the Rift it really helped at some tougher tracks like Road Atlanta where the depth perception really helped cresting the hill into Turn 2. Picked up a lot of time and consistency.

Think we might have the same monitors hah. I can’t say I was any more consistent or less, but I can definitely see how that could be. I kind of want to plug in the Pimax again and give it another shot :stuck_out_tongue:

You might want to look at BigScreenBeyond solution, as they offer to add prescription lenses to the headset for each of your eyes

Ok well this makes me really want to explore motion again.

In vr it would feel really real.

Oooj. Must show additional photographs.

With nice composition and lighting please. None of this low effort unboxing crap, send it. :sunglasses:

Did you get rig/pc?

I am an engineer, I am no artist

I already got the PC, the rig should hopefully arrive in time for christmas. I launched iRacing to test the image clarity and boy, it is clear. Like no visible SDE at all. A huge step above the Rift S I used.

You sure about that Mr. perfect apex? I kid.

But really, take some pics of the unit when it’s out of the box, I’m curious about size.

Trophies for scale. Pika pik
Is it sharing parts with anything like the g2 and the index?

It uses Steam VR 2.0 bases for tracking, but aside from that, it is completely different

I personally prefer turning off stabilization anyway, afterwards I use Gyroflow to fine-tune stabilization and horizon leveling, using the GPS data from the GoPro it looks much better imo since it isn’t processed real time.

A roller coaster of a season!

No DNF? Such a noob.

Congrats!

Pretty sure that worst finish of 31st was a DNF after getting clobbered in T1.

I like how they give you that graphic now for the season, that is nice!

I found a cool site that gives that breakdown. I think iRacing might also send you somehting similar via email.
