I’ve bought a kart that needs a brake caliper rebuild but after undoing the bolts I can’t lift the caliper out as the brake disk prevents me from moving the caliper forward to get around the bolt hole. Am I missing something here or do I need to remove the brake disk first by undoing the brake disc carrier bolts or take you the entire rear axle?
As obnoxious as it seems, the best solution here is to remove the axle.
Loosen the bolt in the rotor hub and slide it over. You might have to loosen the bolts holding the rotor to the hub to allow the hub to expand.
