Sprint kart weight for LO206

Hello from Australia, I’m looking to get into 4 stroke karting. I have a CRG Black Diamond chassis with 17mm front stubs and 40mm rear axle. The available engine choice in the state I live is between two engines, the LO206 Crate Engine and a locally manufactured GX200 clone called a Torini. Torini is 210cc and has an approx. 1 HP advantage over the Briggs. Thus a kart running a Torini has a 10kg or 22lb weight penalty for kart and driver.

Senior classes:

4SS Senior Medium/Masters:
Torini =165 kg or 364 lbs
LO206=155 kg or 341 lbs

4SS Senior Heavy:
Torini =180 kg or 397 lbs
LO206=170 kg or 374 lbs

I am 83kgs or 182lbs and I’m hoping I will get close to one of the LO206 weight classes.

Is anyone able to share how much their Briggs LO206 kart weighs when race ready?

Thanks for your time and feedback.

Thank you very much.

our karts are usually around 160 without a driver or fuel, that’s with several chassis. Im sure there is some variation but that’s a good average. looks like you could maybe hit medium, or if you want some ballast to move around, heavy

At OTK with a 206, half fuel, graphics, data, 3 struts, third bearing in, slider mount, MXJ wheels is about 170-172. Empty tank 168-170, full tank 174-176. Variable is usually OTK vs Tillett seat and factory vs aftermarket graphics.

You might struggle to make sr medium weight in 206 but you will be good for sr heavy weight, i weigh about the same and come across the scales somewhere around 350-355lb just enough fuel to last a race.
(note: im on a birel am29 now but was on an intrepid FK4 and both were similar, the intrepid being a bit heavier just because 30mm tubes, 25mm stubs and 50mm axle)

Hi Toby, yeah I’m happy with the 17/40 axle set up as the engine certainly won’t overpower the chassis.

Race ready, my kart is right around 200. about 25 of that is lead, and i have, i think, a 2018 Ricciardo AM-29.
