Stickiest shifter tires?

If I am looking to try and set some hot lap times, what are the absolute stickiest tires you know of? Moderns MG yellows and Levantos are like mediums compared to the Bridgestone’s we had back early 2000’s. Is there anything super gummy available these days?

MG has some green tyres that supposedly are stickier than the MG Yellows

MG Greens feel like cheating. Tried them while running a buddies X30. Corners I normally had to lift or dab the brakes were now flat.

I run MG greens on my shifter, they are incredibly sticky. I run auto cross, which is miles different from track stuff, so you will have to watch temps and how many push laps you do, because they can get greasy quick

Ok cool I ordered a couple sets of “MG SS Green”. Now let me find my neck exerciser…

I wouldn’t spend a ton of time on them. They are almost too good.

Opps I missed an apex by a couple feet… oh never mind I’m still gripped up and rippin! :joy:

I know right? Seriously though, I just want to feel a little bit of that old school bite. Jacksonville has these killer banked turns and when you are gripped up it is pretty incredible how you can stuff a kart into them.

What are these mg green tyres like compared to vega whites?

It’s been awhile since I was on whites, but the greens I’d guess are even faster. It was worth maybe 0.75 to 1.0 second for me from Yellow to Greens on a kart I’ve never driven, with a 45 second lap.

MG Greens or nothing. Its the only choice of the Autocrossers.. at least the fast ones.

Imho. Vega tires is the stickiest. To me. Ive tried bridgestone. Mojo. Maxxis. Levanto.

Never try mg n others.

I’m about to try LeCont Prime LPM as they tend to last longer than Vega Whites, and they are being used for the WSK Euroseries for KZ as well.

I’m using Vega Nordam (Blue) as well as they have a bigger lifespan. If I really want to go for it, I’d mount Vega Whites.

I tried a rental kart with MG yellows or something once. Was pretty amusing.

We used Mg yellows.

Great until around 40 laps, then they fall off the Grand Canyon.

I just want to point out that this argument about which tire is softest has been dragged on for ages. Someone needs to just get a shore durometer gauge and record the softness of tires lol.

RIP muh ribs tho

I wonder if the MG green tyres are comparable to those special ones that manufacturers gave you in World championships if you were pretty good

Not sure, but the bridgestones (yha and yhb) we ran back then were insanely grippy, it was common to get the kart on two wheels.
